Summer Teach-in

“There’s stuff in the Psalms which isn’t in the Bible!”

There are 150 psalms in the Bible. Some are joyful. Some are part of the culture, they are so well known. Some are solemn. Some are scary. Some are downright strange! A friend of mine once said the quote above, so bemused was he by what was in the psalms! So what are they? What do they say? How do we make sense of the psalms? In our informal summer teach-in this year on Wednesday evenings we are going to look at some of the psalms to see what they are about. How they can show the breadth of human feeling. How they enable us to give voice to our feelings before God.
You are welcome to come to some, or all or just one evening.
There will be tea and coffee from 7.30pm, then we will look at the psalms from 8.00 – 9.15pm.

17th July – A load of shepherds (Psalms 23, 95, 100)
24th July – Loving the Law (Psalms 19, 119.)
31st July – Having a festival – the Psalms of Ascent (120 – 134)
7th August – Loving a lament (Psalms 22, 55)
14th August – Psalms of Passion and Praise (Psalms 137, 138, 139)
