Sadly our planned event on 23rd April focusing on the Living Wage failed to attract interest. The decision to host the event followed the advice given at the Provincial Synod in 2015 that all employees of the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) should receive the Living Wage by the end of 2016.
It had been hoped that the Diocese would receive Living Wage Accreditation from the Living Wage Accreditation and Campaign at the event. This would have been an important signal not only to charges, but also importantly to society at large as it indicates the church is outward looking and supports social justice.
Efforts will continue to be made to ensure all employees of the SEC in Glasgow & Galloway Diocese, including Administrative and Cleaning Service Operatives are paid the Living Wage.
